Description
- plainted enamel on copper ; set in a 19th century tortoiseshell marquetry with silver mounts casketwith two old labels to the underside inscribed in ink : Helbig and : de Lamirre (or Lamine or Lamisse) 6
- 16 by 27 by 20 cm ; 6 1/4 by 10 5/8 by 7 7/8 in.
Condition
In overall good condition for each painted enamel plaque with surface dirt. There are a few hairline firing fissures and minor scratches visible over the surface in some places consistent with age and handling. Each plaque is in a later silver frame, unmarked. The plaque on the top of the lid could be easily reattached. There are a few minor chips along the edges of each plaque and a small loss of painted enamel bellow Orpheus' lyre. The later casket with minor scratches over the surface of the tortoisehell marquetry and with one small missing silver mount and another small silver mount that should be reattached on the lid.
