Description

Condition

Overall the condition of the marble is good, with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. The marble is exceptionally polished and has been heavily waxed, and consequently there is a slight sheen to the marble. There may be a few small chips to the edges of the leaves and branches of the wreath. The bust is loose on its socle, and there are small chips and abrasions to the edges of the bust and the socle where the two meet, particularly at the back. There is some veining to the marble, consistent with the material, including a white vein running from the proper left side of the mouth diagonally down to the edge of the jaw. There are naturally occurring inclusions to the marble, including an area of inclusions to the neck, and a few to the top of the head. The condition of the socle is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface. There are chips to the edges
