Condition

Extended Description and Condition Report: Comprising: a red medallion and floral embroidered cotton and linen quilted coverlet, 18th century, (approximately 248cm by 220cm) comprising of 2 horizontal joins about the width of the outer borders. Embroidered in red using chain stich, suggesting this was produced in India for the English market, panelled muslin backing on reverse with areas of stitching to quilting lacking, and some bleaching and staining in lighter colour, holes on one of the vertical side borders towards the right with some cobbled repairs; a composite quilted cotton coverlet, India, 18th century, (approximately 170cm by 145cm) cut and reduced in size, and with a later cotton lining. Embroidered with medallions, floral motifs and stylized cloud bands, with some use of metal threads. A join is visible at the lover horizontal border along with two big stains around the centre. (There are six vertical panels of varying widths, starting from the left they are 17cm, 43cm, 10cm, 9.5cm, 47cm, and 18cm wide respectively).
