Description

  • 29cm. 11½in. high
5-inch dial with mask and scroll spandrels, matted centre with mock pendulum aperture, signed on a plaque Wm Hughes, High Holborn, London, strike/silent dial in the arch, the fusee movement with five knopped pillars, verge escapement, trip repeat striking on a bell, the foliate engraved backplate fully signed as the dial, the case with broken-arch triple pad top and brass carrying handle, moulded base and brass bracket feet

Condition

Dial in generally good condition, rings would benefit from re-silvering, good original hands. Movement is complete but is very much in need of a clean, service and fresh oil. Case has old losses and damage throughout including upper right side moulding lacking, losses to rear door mouldings, cracks and losses to pads, other old scuffs marks and minor damage throughout. With winder and a modern wooden travelling box in poor condtion.
