Description

  • 7ft. 1in. 215cm. high overall
10½-inch dial with cherub and leaf scroll spandrels, signed along the lower edge A Fromanteel, Amsterdam, matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial, ringed winding holes and date aperture, the movement with five knopped and ringed pillars, anchor escapement, reinstated bolt & shutter maintaining power, external locking plate striking on a bell, the associated case with flat top and applied carved cresting above further frieze carving and Corinthian-capped spiral hood pillars, the rectangular trunk door with carved lenticle, the quarter veneered plinth with ebonised bun feet  

Condition

Dial in generally good condition with a few marks and scratches to the silvered rings, good hour hand, minute hand replaced. Movement is complete and looks as though it would run but may benefit from a clean and fresh oil, it appears to retain the original wheel work throughout, bolt and shutter maintaining power probably re-instated, crutch repaired, seat board replaced. The associated case in generally good condition throughout with old minor scuffs and marks throughout. With pendulum, two brass-cased weights, winder and case key.
