Description

of oval form, the lid later applied with a miniature representing a busy Dutch lake view, under glass, 19th century, the box fully hallmarked, 5.6 cm., 2 1/4 in.; and a silver-mounted copper snuff box, Dutch or German, circa 1720, of cartouche form, the lid with an oval panel cast with a chinoiserie subject, surrounded by exotic birds and plants, the base engraved with elegant figures near a harbour above a blank cartouche, unmarked, 8 cm., 3 1/8 in.

Condition

The miniature with slight crazing throughout, discoloured glue stains and small flecks of colour losses to the top edge; the cartouche-shaped box with slight wear to the base, overall commensurate with age
