  • 24cm., 9 1/2 in. high, in fitted leather case
the darkly banded hardstone body mounted in jewelled silver, the collar with a Greek key pattern in white enamel below silver-mounted emeralds, applied at the shoulders with cast silver representing the two Austrian princesses who reigned over France, Marie Antoinette and Marie Louise, the detachable cover formed as a coronet and decorated with dark blue and red enamel and garnet-set fleurs-de-lis, ribbons and seed pearls, apparently unmarked

Condition

the hardstone in good condition, two small chips only; four small stones missing from the fleur de lis around the lid; losses and restoration to the black and the blue enamel around the collar, one gold-mounted emerald a later replacement; losses to green enamel on the leaves at the base in various places, three chips to black enamel on the foot; the inside of the vase with two large patches of restoration to the collar
