Literature

Newman, M., Die deutschen Porzellan-Manufakturen, Braunschweig, 1977, vol.1, p.100, pl.97.

Condition

The paler example has old restoration to both trunks and one ear (one restored trunk has become detached). The tail is also restored and the trunk has been extensively restored and over-painted. These restorations disguise missing part and would benefit from a fresh restoration. Scattered firing cracks to the surface. The darker example is in better order with one tusk and tail restored, again disguising losses in these areas.
