Description
- 47 cm, 18 1/2 in.
sturdily potted with a tapered ovoid body rising to a short, waisted neck and everted rim, densely painted to the exterior with large lotus blooms borne on meandering leafy stems, all between a band of ruyi roundels enclosing various auspicious emblems to the shoulder and a band of lappet to the foot, the neck decorated with scrolling foliage
Condition
The jar has a circa 20cm., restored crescent-shaped section of the rim, an associated 16cm., restored crack extending over the shoulder, a similar smaller crescent-shaped restored break at the rim with associated 6cm., crack extending over the shoulder, over-painting to most of the rim, a 3 and a 4cm., hairline rim crack both with associated glaze lines forking around the interior and exterior of the rim, a 10 and a 15cm., firing crack to the interior with associated over-painting to the exterior, a 9x5cm area of scattered glaze firing imperfections to the shoulder, staining to the luting line, glaze firing imperfections and kiln grit adhered around the bottom edge of the foot.
