Description

  • 25.5 cm, 10 1/8  in.
the compressed globular body rising from a short spreading foot to an everted flaring rim, incised around the exterior with two rectangular panels, one enclosing figures in a garden, the other a large eagle perched on a fir tree, all divided by a pair dragon-headed handles, the base cast with an apocryphal four-character Xuande seal mark, the circular stand supported on three ruyi feet joined by a shaped apron, the metal patinated to a dark chocolate tone

Condition

This censer is in good condition, with the exception of some general surface wear, minor manufacturing flaws and thin layers of malachite encrustations throughout. There is a minor crack to the edge of the stand, which may have occurred during the manufacturing process.
