Description

  • 10.4 cm, 4 1/8  in.
carved to the domed cover in cinnabar lacquer with a wrapped flute and castanets amongst ruyi-shaped cloud swirls enclosed within a peach-shaped panel with scrolling clouds, all against a diaper ground in yellow lacquer, the box similarly carved with diaper ground with a key-fret border at the foot, the interior and base lacquered black

Condition

This box and cover are in fairly good condition, apart from some minor chips and losses to the wing of one bat, some nicks to the extremities, very shallow cracks and minor wear to the surface. The joined edges of the box and cover have been re-touched.
