Description

  • 7.9 cm, 3 1/8  in.
of irregular section, the cover carved in varying relief with clusters of loquat and buds borne on leafy steams, in ochre, red, and green, on a finely carved geometric diaper ground, the sides with further diaper patterns in red, the interiors and base lacquered black

Condition

This box is in good condition overall, with the exception of some very minor losses to the sides and the edge of the base, as well as some expected shallow cracks and surface wear. There are two y small area of restoration to the edge of the base (the larger approx. 0.6 x 0.4 cm). The red lacquer has been lightly refreshed overall.
