Description

  • 12 cm, 4 3/4  in.
of irregular section, the cover carved in varying levels of relief with two prominent pomegranates borne on a leafy steam, in ochre, red, and green, on a finely carved geometric diaper ground, the sides of the box carved in red with hexagonal floret-diaper, the interiors and base lacquered black 

Condition

This box and cover are in good conditions overall, apart from some general surface wear, a few very minor cracks and nicks to the extremities. There are several minor losses to the edges of the base of the box (approx. 1.3 x 0.3 cm). Some of the lacquer, including the rims, has been re-touched.
