Ce pendentif très admiré fut présenté dans de nombreuses expositions à l’époque où il appartenait au collectionneur américain William O’Boyle.
The dignitary wears the insignia of rank of the kan cross motif, an emblem of rulership, nestled into the tapered turban. A cross-band also marks his neck and the oversized earrings at each side further highlight this important portrait. The flowing fronds framing the face make reference to the waterlily scrolls also seen on the carved cartouches of Chocholá vessels. The stepped lower rim is decorated with tiny beads.
This highly prized plaque pendant was extensively exhibited as part of the collection of the American collector William O'Boyle.
