Excellent condition overall. Generally v good details and color remains on the belt, the proper right hand is restored. other wise wear consistent with age and use within the culture.Excellent details on the tattoos on the face.

Catalogue Note

Cet aristocrate arbore d’importants tatouages faciaux et porte un pectoral en coquillage nous renseignant sur son statut prestigieux. L’œuvre fut prêtée au Gilcrease Museum de Tulsa (Oklahoma) par Daniel Friedenberg. Pour une statue de Jaina stylistiquement très apparentée, voir Randel, Jaina Sculpture, 1965, fig. 1.

The nobleman bears jawbone tattoos on his face and wears a large shell pectoral, distinctive elements of his court status. The figure was noted as loaned to the Gilcrease Museum, Tulsa, Oklahoma during the ownership of Daniel M. Friedenberg.
