Gifted to the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, in 1981 (acc. no. 1981.354). The horse:
Collection of Mrs. John Alden Carpenter.
Gifted to the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, in 1962 (acc. no. 1962.920).

Condition

The horse with infilled repairs to the mane and restored breaks to the mane, body, legs and tail. The wood base with a section missing. One raised ornament on the left haunch detached. The stone head with some losses to the nose and left side of the ushnisha. Both with general wear to the surface.
