  • 17 5/8  by 23 3/8  in.; 44.6 by 59.3 cm.

Provenance

Private collection, Italy.

Condition

The canvas has been lined. The painting presents a lovely decorative image beneath a clear varnish. There are some larger areas of craquelure visible in the sky, though these are not distracting. There are a few very small and scattered dots that appear in the sky at right and near the center of the lower edge. Inspection under UV reveals a varnish that fluoresces unevenly in areas. It also reveals a few spots of retouching in the sky, one at upper right, and two in upper left. Additional very thin and fine strokes of retouching are scattered here and there in the sky, for example, near top of tower and in extreme upper left corner. Offered in a decoratively carved giltwood frame with a light velvet liner.
