The watercolour pigments are well preserved. The sheet has darkened slightly with time and the extreme edges more so. The work is not laid down.

This watercolour is a fine example of why de Wint to considered by many to be among the most innovative and avant garde watercolourists of the nineteenth century. Using a multitude of techniques, he has created an image of great freedom, movement and life.
