Catalogue Note

Giovanni Boldini executed at least two large portraits in oil of the Marchioness Casati, the first one in 1908. Our drawing, executed in 1913, is possibly a preparatory study for the portrait painted ca 1914 The Marchioness Casati with peacock feathers, where she is shown sitting in a similar attitude to that of our drawing (Galleria d'Arte Moderna, Rome). We would like to thank Tiziano Panconi for kindly confirming the authenticity of this work. The drawing will be sold with a letter of authenticity by Tiziano Panconi, dated December 5th 2018.
