Description

with an arched upholstered back and conformingly shaped seat on turned and fluted tapering legs with lappeted collars and spreading reeded feet, inscribed to the rail in pencil 'Chamber/14 98' and in paint with inventory '884'

Condition

In overall reasonable conserved condition. Silk upholstery with signs of wear including a small area of tearing localised to a bleach stain and would benefit from a clean according to taste. Frame sound and sturdy with corners re-blocked. Generally with minor old scuffs and scratches consistent with age and use.

Thomas Chippendale supplied a set of four stools to Sir Edward Knatchbull for the Dining Room at Mersham-le-Hatch, Kent1.
