Condition

It has not been possible to see the work entirely unframed. The canvas is not lined. There are pinholes at all four corners and along the extreme edges. Examination under UV light reveals a few dots and lines of retouching, notably to the upper part of the architecture on both left and right parts of the composition and a smaller dot of retouching between the knees of the proper left hand figure. There are a few spots of light fluorescence visible under UV light which do not appear to be related to any retouching, in the background towards the architecture. There is a small horizontal stretcher bar mark towards the centre of the upper edge. There is some light abrasion along the left edge, some minor frame rubbing and tiny pigment losses in places, most predominately to the extreme edges. This work is in overall good condition.
