Condition

The canvas is unlined. There are a small number of very tiny undulations to the paint surface in places, these are predominantly due to inconsistent depth in the paint and some variation in the canvas. There are a few scattered fine lines of cracking to the paint surface, with one particularly noticeable instance in the upper third of the painting, through the Morning Glory. There are one or two very small flecks of loss, with one fleck towards the centre of the left edge. There is some minor reticulation in places. There are some very minor instances of surface dust. This excepting the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals one match head sized spot of retouching in the blue Morning Glory in the upper third of the work. There are two small spots of retouching at the centre of the lower edge. There are some other areas of fluorescence however these are in keeping with the Artist's working methods. The work is held in a carved and painted wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any further questions regarding the present lot.
