• Movement: steel movement with verge escapement, plain steel balance with hog's bristle regulation, fusees and lipped barrels to the going and striking trains, the alarm mounted to the side• Dial: 1½-inch twenty four hour time dial with touch-pieces and engraved I-XII and 13-24, central alarm dial, subsidiary strike indication dial to the rear• Case: with top-mounted bell, all engraved with foliate scrolls and strapwork, the front panel with coat of arms, the left side with a naked female and scientific instruments titled Astrologia, the rear with a scientist using a sundial and the right side mounted with a sundial and compass for latitudes 49, 50 and 51 degrees, the shaped base on bun feet

Condition

DIAL: in good condition, hand probably replaced CASE: in generally good condition throughout and retaining much of the original gilding, base rather rubbed. No winder. MOVEMENT: complete and just running at cataloguing but would benefit from a clean and fresh oil, some old repairs and restorations, alarm train possibly re-instated Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of its timekeeping.
