NATURAL PEARL AND DIAMOND NECKLACE, LATE 19TH CENTURY

Description

Designed as a graduated line of circular-cut diamonds, supporting three detachable pendants, each set with a button-shaped natural pearl weighing 9.66, 5.77 and 5.70 carats respectively, within a double frame of circular-cut diamonds, length approximately 360mm, French assay marks for gold and silver, pendants wearable as brooches or hair ornaments, one brooch fitting deficient, fitted case stamped Grognier-Arnaud.

Condition

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 106012, and LFG report no. 327000, each stating that the button-shaped pearls, weighing 9.66, 5.77 and 5.70 carats, measuring 12.63 x 13.04 x 8.52 mm, 9.97 x 10.17 x 7.29 mm 9.61 x 9.81 x 8.03 mm , respectively, were found to be natural, saltwater. French assay marks for silver and 18 carat gold. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 16.00 - 18.00 carats, on average I-J colour, SI-I clarity, included, as gauged and graded in the mount. Signs of tarnish consistent with age. In overall good condition. Necklace later shortened. Fitted case stamped Grognier-Arnaud, Quai St Antoine 11, LYON. Total gross weight approximately 59 grams.
