Set with an oval sapphire stated to weigh 38.53 carats, within a double surround of brilliant-cut diamonds, size 511/2, signed Cartier, French assay mark for gold and maker's mark.

Accompanied by SSEF report no. 77377, stating that the oval sapphire, measuring approximately 18.95 x 16.80 x 13.25mm, weighing approximately 38 carats, is of Ceylon origin, with no indications of heating. Signed Cartier, French maker's marks and assay marks for 18 carat gold. Inscribed S. 38,53 and Bts 8.09. Minor nicks on the sapphire. Diamonds stated to weigh a total 8.09 carats, on average G-H colour, VS clarity. In very good condition. Gross weight approximately 21 grams.
