Description

  • Colourless jadeite cabochon approximately 12.95 x 11.00 x 7.09mm and largest jadeite cabochon approximately 9.82 x 4.35 x 2.76mm.
Each designed as a crab holding a gem with its claw; one with a fire opal body and colourless sapphire briolette eyes holding a brilliant-cut diamond; and the other with a translucent colourless jadeite body and yellow sapphire briolette eyes holding an oval ruby; both embellished with jadeite cabochons of high translucency and brilliant emerald green colour, mounted in 18 karat blackened gold.

Condition

Accompanied by two Hong Kong Jade & Stone Laboratory certificate no. SJ 108421 and SJ 180422, both dated 25 January 2019, stating that the jadeite tested are natural, known in the trade as "A Jade". For further details, please refer to the reports. Both brooches stamped 750 for 18 karat blackened gold; one also stamped 055 and 439 for the weight of the 0.55 carat brilliant-cut diamond and 4.39 carat opal respectively; and the other stamped 114 for the weight of the 1.14 carat ruby. Jadeite cabochons are of brilliant emerald green colour and high translucency, under strong illumination, there are minor typical clouds, a few dark specks, some internal fissures with a few surface reaching, some scratches and a few nicks, hardly noticeable when worn. Colourless jadeite is translucent and of fine texture, under strong illumination there are some tiny clouds. All gemstones observed under 10x magnification; oval ruby of medium pinkish red colour and medium saturation, with typical inclusions and a few are surface reaching, some minor abrasions and a few tiny chips; fire opal of pebble-shaped, displaying strong play-of-colour effect to the medium orange background of medium strong saturation, there are minor inclusions and a few are slightly surface reaching; and four sapphire briolettes, one is faint green colour, one is faint blue colour, and two of light yellow colour and medium light saturation, with typical inclusions and a few are surface reaching, some nicks and a few tiny chips. Diamond is about J to K colour, VS clarity as graded in the mount. Signs of minor wear to the metal. Overall in very good condition.
