The panel appears to be sound. The reverse of the panel is loosely lined with backing paper. There is some very light frame abrasion visible around all edges, with one or two tiny flecks of loss to the extreme edges, largely not visible in the present frame. There also appears to be some historic retouching to some previous areas of rubbing around the edges. There is surface dirt throughout and some minor scuffs. There is also a very small amount of studio matter. This excepting the work appears to be in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals areas of retouching in line with old frame abrasion, however due to thick and discoloured varnish further details are hard to discern.
