Provenance
Sale, Sotheby's Olympia, 7th June 2007, lot 360, where acquired by the present owner
Condition
The canvas appears original. There is slight undulation to the canvas at the upper left corner with one associated very fine line of craquelure, with one or two probable further instances of more minor craquelure elsewhere. There is reticulation towards the centre of the lower edge. There are a few instances of surface matter and studio detritus in the paint, and some light surface dirt in places. This excepting, the work appears in very good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals no obvious signs of fluorescence or retouching. The work is held within a painted wooden box frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
