Condition

The canvas is original. The canvas undulates very slightly throughout. There is light rubbing to the canvas in places, including to the upper left quadrant. There is a faint horizontal scuff towards the centre of the canvas, with probable more minor instances elsewhere. There are one or two isolated areas of very fine lines of craquelure only visible upon close inspection, including to the white pigment in the upper right quadrant. There are small speckles of staining to the work, and small instances of surface matter and surface dirt in places. This excepting, the work appears in good overall condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a few instances of fluorescence and probable spot retouching to the aforementioned rubbed area in the upper left quadrant with a small number of further instances elsewhere. These have been sensitively executed. The work is held within a simple painted wooden slip frame.
