Provenance

Sale, Christie's London, 9th June 2000, lot 63A
Flowers East, London, where acquired by the present owner

Condition

The canvas is original. The canvas undulates very slightly in places. There is some light frame abrasion to the extreme left edge, most likely due to a previous frame. There is a spot of paint loss at the extreme right edge towards the upper right corner. There are fine lines of craquelure to the orange pigment in places, and some further lifting in the impasto orange pigment to the right of the vase with one or two small flecks of loss. There is light surface dirt and instances of studio matter and surface detritus in places. Inspection under ultraviolet light is rendered difficult by an uneven varnish. The work is floated and held within a painted wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
