Description

60,000 USD Designed as a carnation, set throughout with numerous rose, old mine and old European-cut diamonds, highlighted with lines of cushion and calibré-cut rubies; circa 1890.

Condition

In fair to good condition, especially given the age of the piece, with signs of wear, discoloration, tarnish, solder and adhesive to the mounting, predominantly evident to the reverse and not noticeable when worn. The six largest old European and old mine-cut diamonds, estimated to weigh a total of approximately 2.20 carats, are approximately G-K color, VS-I clarity; the remaining diamonds of decorative quality, as is typical of diamonds from this era. The rubies are medium to medium deep slightly purplish red, slightly to moderately included, a few bearing abrasions and small chips to the crown, noticeable only under 10x magnification. Some components appear to be later modifications. Gross weight approximately 25 dwts. Dimensions approximately 3⅝ x 2⅛ inches.
