Condition

It has not been possible to see the work entirely unframed. The canvas is not lined and is slightly undulating. There is a milky varnish preventing UV light from fully penetrating, however examination under UV light appears to reveal lines and dots of retouching along the extreme edges and a few further spots of retouching in places, notably to the model's hair, towards the centre of the left edge and to the model's jacket. There are webs of craquelure throughout the composition, most predominately in the background. There is a speck of paint loss in the green pigment to the upper right quadrant (approx. 8.5 cm from right edge and 7.5 cm from upper edge) and a few further smaller specks of paint losses in places. There is a line of light discoloration (approx. 1 cm wide), probably related with retouching, along the extreme edges. There is some frame rubbing along the extreme edges. This work is in overall good condition.
