Acquired at the above sale by the present owner

Condition

It has not been possible to see the work entirely unframed. Oil, tempera and gold leaf on canvas laid down on panel, probably by the artist. The panel is sound and slightly convex. There are a few nail holes, probably studio and associated with retouching visible under UV light, at all four corners and to the centre of the left, right and lower edges. There is no evidence of further retouching on the canvas visible under UV light. There are scattered webs of craquelure. There are tiny dots of stable paint losses in places, not visually distracting, notably to the red standing figure in the lower left quadrant and below the feet and to the shoulder of the central white figure. This work is in overall good condition.
