Catalogue Note

Garden of the artist (Giverny) painted by Blanche Hoschédé-Monet echoes the influence of her stepfather and father-in -law, Claude Monet. The vibrant composition, strong palette and impressionistic style are testament to the importance of the work. Throughout her oeuvre, Hoschédé-Monet remained more concerned with landscape over than water, preferring land to the marine. This painting is an excellent example of the artist’s painterly skill and the influence of the artist’s impressionistic routes.
