Condition

The canvas is strip-lined. There is a thick layer of varnish through which the UV light cannot fully penetrate, but UV examination does reveal some intermittent retouchings to the edges. There is a further layer of varnish to parts of the upper half of the work, some of which has gathered in places to form small discoloured deposits, which are visible on close inspection and more clearly under UV light. The work would benefit from having the varnish removed. There are some fine lines of craquelure in places. This work is in overall good condition.
