  • image size: 17 by 14.5cm., 6 5/8 by 5 3/4 in.
  • sheet size: 30.6 by 19.6cm., 12 1/8 by 7 3/4 in.
  • Executed circa 1911.

Provenance

Maximilian (Max) & Hertha Morgenstern, Vienna (acquired from the artist)
Thence by descent to the present owners

Condition

Executed on fibrous cream wove paper (on what is the reverse of a sheet of kataster paper), not laid down, and hinged to the mount in two places along the upper edge. The sheet is slightly time-stained and there are some minor spots of foxing in places. The lower part of the sheet (where the title appears) is folded back on itself and so not visible when framed; the top part of the sheet is also folded back on itself. There are two artist's pinholes to the left edge and two to the right edge. There are two tape and glue remnants to the edges of the verso, the discolouration of which shows through the sheet slightly but does not interfere with the image at all. There is a very minor diagonal crease to the upper right corner of the sheet, well away from the image. This work is in overall good condition.
