Oil on cradled panel. The panel is sound. Examination under UV light reveals a layer of varnish preventing the UV light from fully penetrating, however, there appear to be some lines of old retouching to the upper right quadrant which correspond to fine cracks in the panel. There are small areas of paint shrinkage in places, most notably to the background of the cloth in the foreground, to the blue pigment of the cloth itself as well as to the handle of the spoon in the upper left quadrant. There are two minor pin-sized holes to the panel to the extreme left edge as well as a further pin-sized hole to the lower part of the extreme right edge. There is a minor paint loss to the centre of the right edge. This work appears to be in overall good condition.
