The canvas is lined. Examination under UV light reveals an area of retouching to the horizon towards the centre of the right edge, as well as a few spots of retouching to the dunes in the foreground. There are fine lines of stable craquelure. There are some paint losses in places to the extreme edges and some remnants of gilt to the centre of the right edge due to previous framing. There are a few scattered fly spots to the foreground along the lower edge. There is some lovely rich impasto in places. This work is in overall good condition and may benefit from a light clean.
