Condition

The sheet has been laid on canvas. There are a few minor losses to the sheet in the upper right corner and to the center right of the upper edge. There is a repaired horizontal tear running unevenly to the right of the sitter's neck, a smaller repaired tear to the left and a few minor repaired tears in places elsewhere. There is a pinhole loss and a small area of slightly raised craquelure above the sitter's head to the left. The corners of the support are slightly taut and a stretcher bar mark running vertically to the right of center. There is a layer of surface dust. Examination under UV light reveals a small area of raised craquleure to the right of the sitter's head with associated inpainting. There is a spot and a few scattered strokes of inpainting in the figure's forehead and a spot of inpainting in the upper left quadrant.
