Catalogue Note

The Cadenas, or "Lock" watch was designed in 1935 and became an instant staple of  the atelier's timepiece collections. The Cadenas combined high jewelry and watch design together, allowing the wearer the upmost discretion as only they could see the dial and review the time.

Legend has it that this unique and elegant timepiece was designed upon the request of the Dutchess of Windsor herself! In fact, Sotheby's had the honor of offering the Dutchess's very own Cadenas timepiece in our sale of Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels in 2011; a vintage model circa 1936 which sold for over $400,000 USD.  The present lot is an exceptional modern rendition sparkling with over 10 carats of pavé diamonds.
