Catalogue Note

Cartier Tonneau shaped wristwatches can be dated back as early as 1906.  These early examples have become the inspiration behind current models based on the iconic case design - such as the Cartier Privé Tonneau introduced at SIHH in 2018. As collectors often hope to find, the present watch has all of the corresponding case and movement numbers, as well as the Cartier inventory number. The personalized engraving on the caseback shows that this watch was lovingly passed down through the family for two generations first in 1925, and the second time in 1973, both as a Christmas gift to be worn and enjoyed. The present watch comes to us in original condition from the descendant of the original owner.
