Catalogue Note

Piaget Archives confirms that the present lot was manufactured in 1974. A similar sautoir watch is illustrated in Montres et Merveilles, 200 créations rares provenant du Musée de l'Horlogerie de Genève et des Collections Privées Piaget, p. 73.

Piaget launched the Collection du XXIe Siècle (21st Century Collection) in 1969, at the height of the firm's finest era of jewelry making. Produced for a short period of time, the collection was inspired by the period's nonconformist style, showcasing avant-garde pieces characterized by their asymmetrical shapes and daring use of materials. Piaget elevated hard stones to new heights, incorporating lapis lazuli, malachite, and tiger's eye into their ground-breaking and highly wearable pieces. It is no wonder that this collection, amassed with over 30 hard stones and bold designs has earned Piaget the moniker of "The Jeweler of Watchmaking."

In 2014, Piaget celebrated their heritage with a sublime exhibition of their 21st Century Collection titled L'Or et la Couleur. From bracelets and cuffs, to elegant necklaces such as the present lot, the collection has become an iconic representation of creativity without limits.
