The watch is in excellent overall condition with minor surface wear to the case only. The dial is in excellent overall condition and the off-white registers give it a two-tone appearance. Catalogue Note

Belonging to what is widely recognised as the most prestigious lineage of watches in the Manufacture's repertoire, the present lot represents a development in the 3rd iteration of Patek Philippe's Perpetual Calendar Chronographs. The reference 3970 and 3971 (this lot) were released in 1986 succeeding the now legendary reference 2499. The 3971 with its snap-on back was only produced from 1986 to 1989 and less frequently return to market, making them more coveted by collectors. This lot belongs to the first series of watches made between their launch and 1988 in which only 100 pieces were produced. The present watch has been kept in the same family since new and it is thought to be one of less than 10 pieces known to the market.
