PROPERTY OF AN IMPORTANT ASIAN COLLECTOR
It is true to say that something all watch enthusiasts share is a passion for quality and skilled craftsmanship. The reason for this is, and it is equally true to say, that these two attributes are present in every single watch executed in any style; be it a wristwatch or a pocket watch, a vintage time only or modern complicated piece, these defining and fundamental features are present and deservedly appreciated.
While emphasis on dial and cases is not only very strong but very important, it can be easy for one to overlook the beauty of a bracelet. The following two lots not only represent some of the most revered complicated references in Patek Philippe’s repertoire, but are also elevated by the addition of a Patek Philippe bracelet. Bracelets are not standard options for such watches but are instead issued at the buyer’s request, and only to clientele with an existing relationship with the Manufacture. As such to find watches of this nature with original bracelets is particularly rare.
While in this instance they are simple in design, their construction takes an unprecedented level of skill. All in all a bracelet, to the discerning eye at least, offers an all-encompassing and ultimately satisfying experience to wearing and enjoying a watch.
Consigned by two very important collectors, this 5004 and 5020 are two of the most charismatic examples ever to come to auction. Both fresh to the market and complete with all original accessories. Both watches delight with their sheer rarity and upmost beauty.
受兩位重要收藏家委售，本次呈獻的 5004 及 5020 是首次現身拍賣，極其珍稀且魅力四射，光芒披露。附上所有原裝配件。
The reference 5004 was released in 1994 and its production ran until 2009. Somewhat similar in appearance to the 2499 and 3970, the 5004 occupies a 36.5 mm case retaining elegant, vintage, proportions. This is especially noticeable when compared to the later editions of the perpetual calendar chronograph such as the reference 5970 which is significantly larger.
The present example is extremely rare for two reasons, the first is the black non-diamond dial that is confirmed on the Certificate of Origin. Patek Philippe usually add diamonds to their black dials and is exceedingly rare to find black dial fitted with baton numerals. Secondly is the presence of its heavy white gold removable Patek Philippe bracelet that was added after production upon special request from the original owner.
There are only a handful of black dial 5004 with baton markers known and lesser still are those fitted with a heavy removable bracelet.
