PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT COLLECTOR
The reference 5960 is a watch that is very easy to wear and, given its number of complications, remains aesthetically unassuming and incredibly legible. Retaining a wonderfully sporty look the dial and case combinations give the model a certain sophistication and two characteristics that Patek Philippe have masterfully balanced and the result: a distinct versatility. Housed within is the self-winding calibre CH28-250, Patek Philippe's first in house automatic chronograph movement, but in this instance with the addition of the annual calendar, power reserve and day and night indication.
The platinum variants were released with dials in grey, blue, and in their final of production, black, all of which we have the pleasure to present at auction. The pink gold 5960 was released with both a black and silver dial.
The present watch reference 5960 was introduced along with the Nautilus reference 5980 in 2006. As both watches were the first time Patek Philippe had ever fitted an annual calendar function to a chronograph movement, both references were immensely popular. With an exceedingly sporty and yet stylish appearance the reference 5960 has become a very familiar reference of all watch aficionados.
