Catalogue Note

The oldest manufacturer in watchmaking, Vacheron Constantin has enjoyed over 260 years of production, having been established in 1755. With such illustrious history, it will come as no surprise that their modern pieces often echo vintage designs, and this is certainly the case with the present lot. Released in 2005, in celebration of the manufacture's 250th anniversary, the skeletonized minute repeating references 30020 and 30030 were produced in very limited series, the present lot belonging to the latter. Powering the watch is the revolutionary caliber 1755, named after the company's birth year. With a depth measuring only 3.28 mm the caliber is fantastically slim for one that houses such a complication as a minute repeater. Indeed, the movement was the thinnest minute repeating movement ever created when it was put into production in 1992.

Perhaps the best feature of this watch, besides its complexity, is it's subtlety. The case is simple and unassuming, with its teardrop lugs adding a very pleasing flourish to the overall aesthetic and a very vigorous nod to the manufacture's vintage designs. The minute repeating mechanism has a very crisp tone and clarity and the watch has furthermore been retained in very nice and original condition.
