Catalogue Note
In haute horlogerie, stainless steel today is just as highly regarded as are platinum and various hues of gold. Classics such as reference 1579, 1518 and 1436 in steel are exceedingly rare to find. Not only were they produced in very limited numbers, they were only offered to the brand's most loyal clients selectively. Crafted in a cushion-shaped stainless steel case, the reference 5950A was debut in 2010 at Baselworld, inspired by the legendary vintage split second model 'Coussin-Tortue' made in the 1920s. Patek Philippe chose this metal as an obvious reminder to the utilitarian roots of the chronograph complication. The present watch also features the world's thinnest rattrapante movement, powered by the exquisite CHR 27 525 PS movement, with which the manufacture set a new global record in 2005 for the thinnest column-wheel chronograph caliber ever made. The display back provides a view of the breathtaking mechanism that is finished with the utmost in craftsmanship.
Offered in excellent overall condition, the present watch is complete with original certificate, additional case back and presentation box.
