Catalogue Note

Kari Voutilanien is an independent watchmaker from Switzerland who had started his career in watchmaking by focusing on the restoration of the finest horological creation made. However, it was not until the early 2000s when his career started to propel as he had gained recognition from collectors through the introduction of his decimal minute repeater.
The present watch is a Vingt-8 model fitted with a familiar Voutilanien style Breguet hands and a case with teardrop lugs. However, one significant feature that has been modified is the timeless black lacquer dial instead of the signature guilloche dial. The changes to the dial has been immensely altered from a more fabricated aura to a humble and elegant persona. Furthermore, the watch is complete with an in-house built and hand finished movement that features Voutilanien's trademark - an extra-large balance which enables a more constant distribution of energy offering benefits in terms of longevity and stability in day-to-day use.
Offered in excellent overall condition and complete with full accessories, Sotheby's is delighted to present you with this finely crafted watch from a well-respected independent watchmaker.
