Catalogue Note

Given to the consigner as a gift, the present watch originally belongs to the famous Japanese actor and singer, Mr. Ken Takakura whom is known to be an important Rolex collector as well. Takakura whom some may refer to as the "Clint Eastwood" of Japan, has appeared in over more than 200 films. He had won many awards including the “Japan Academy Prize for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role” for four times and the Person of Cultural Merit award in 2006, the Order of Culture in 2013 and most notably, the Japanese Medal of Honor with purple ribbon in 1998
Cased in yellow gold and preserved in excellent condition with a full proportional case and clean dial, the present watch is significant because the reference was the first ever automatic chronograph movement introduced by Rolex in 1988. Furthermore, case back is also engraved with Takakura’s Japanese name and as well as the year 1996 which he purchased the watch.
