Inspired by the historical model "manta ray" reference 2554 from the 1950s, reference 5100 was introduced in 2000 to celebrate the new millennium. Only 3,000 pieces were produced for reference 5100, 1,500 in yellow gold, 750 in pink gold, 450 in white gold and 300 in platinum. The present watch is also the first Patek Philippe model to feature a 10 days power reserve.
